Rector: Madrasah as Complement of "Public School"

Kuningan, UIN NEWS Online - Madrasah is a complement of "public school", to achieve and support the task of education management in Indonesia. There were 147,513 Elementary Schools conducted their education for 26,132,141 students, 36,518 Junior High Schools conducted education for 9,930,647 students, and 12,513 senior high schools conducted their education for 4,232,572 students. Therefore, Madrasahs in its presence complemented and ease the tasks of public schools.

This was conveyed by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada MA when giving his speech at the Seminar and Book Review entitled Madrasah and Teacher Professionalism in Islamic Education Dynamics Flow in Regional Autonomy Era on Monday (30/10), at Ayong Hotel Hall, Linggarjati, Kuningan, West Java.

Dede Added that Madrasah up until now has been an option for most communities to learn. Because the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in 2014 to 2015 noted that there were 24,353 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) held education for 3,463,028 students, 16,741 Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) held education for 3,158,689 students, and 7,260 Madrasah Aliyah (MA) for 1,099,366 students.

"Thus, it is obvious that the position of Madrasahs in this country is very supportive of "Public School "in order to participate in educating the generation of this nation. However, at the beginning, Madrasahs were born and developed independently. By looking a glimpse into its history, madrassas were born in the 20th century, and its birth was encouraged by discrimination attitude by the Dutch colonial government, " the rector explained.

At the end of his speech, the rector invited the participants to join in advancing education in Indonesia, especially in Kuningan District. The Rector also invited the youth from every single area in Indonesia, especially Kuningan, to continue their education at the UIN Jakarta campus.

"UIN Jakarta is open to everyone who wants to learn. In fact, UIN Jakarta is the best PTKIN in Southeast Asia. However, it should be noted, even though UIN Jakarta is cheap in cost, but UIN Jakarta is not a sort of cheap campus in science, either religious and general sciences, "said Professor of Education Methodology UIN Jakarta.

In the same place, attended as a guest speaker, Vice Rector for Cooperation Section Prof Dr Murodi MA, Kuningan Regent H Acep Purnama SH MH, which on that occasion represented by Head of District Education Office Dr H Dian Rahmat Yanuar MSi (opening speech), and Head Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Tangerang Regency Drs H Mujayin MAg (welcoming speech), and other Section Heads and invited guests.

UIN Jakarta representated by the rector, Head of Bureau of General Administration and Officer (BAUK) Dr. H. Rudi Subiyantoro MPd, Head of Planning and Finance Bureau H Subarja MPd, Head of Sub Section of Documentation and Publication Feni Arifiani MH, and all staffs of Documentation and Publication and Administration staffs.

Vice Rector, in his speech said that the book written by the Rector was feasible, additionally it was also become must-read-book, especially for the educators.

"We as educators and learners at the same time have to read this book. Its because, the book covers lots of science and precious data which able to open the horizons of our mind on how should we run the education.

Still according to him, it was not limited on discussing the current position of Madrasah, but the book as I may say contain phases and methods which was applicable to the progress of educational institutions in Indonesia.

Strengthen his opinion, Head of Education Office represented by Head of District Education Office UPTD Drs Ayi Syarif MPd in his explanation said that the Education Office of Kuningan Regency momentously appreciate the event.

"We from the Education Authorities hope that this event able to provide additional knowledge for teachers and learners. In addition, by reading this book, we may know and able to position ourselves and educational institutions in this current era, " Ayi said.

He hoped that such positive events in the future can be re-organize to increase the knowledge and skill of teachers and society in general. (usa)
