Rector Inaugurates 141st Graduates, Delivers Three Key Messages
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., officially inaugurated 789 graduates out of a total of 3,154 graduates on the first day of the Open Senate Session for the 141st Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Graduation at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, Saturday (5/9/2026).
Carrying the theme “Strengthening Innovative Graduates with Integrity and Impact on Humanity,” the Rector invited all graduates to express their gratitude and pride for successfully navigating a dynamic academic journey. Nevertheless, the Rector reminded them that obtaining a degree or a high Grade Point Average (GPA) is merely the starting gateway to entering community life.
According to the Rector, academic success must be balanced with maturity, self-management skills, and the agility to adapt to rapid changes in the modern era.
“In society, the demands and challenges will be far different. Today, celebrate, feel proud, and be grateful for your achievements. However, after today, you must push yourselves, hone your skills, and adapt to the demands of reality,” the Rector stated.
Furthermore, the Rector emphasized the importance of maintaining one's track record and personal quality in the era of digital information openness. Today, a person's track record and capabilities are transparently accessible to the public, meaning credibility can no longer be proven solely by a diploma.
To face these future challenges, the Rector imparted three core messages for the alumni to hold firm throughout their lives.
First, the Rector asked graduates to continuously preserve a spirit of lifelong learning (lifelong education). He stressed that earning a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree is no reason to stop acquiring knowledge.
“Keep learning, lifelong education. Never feel that you no longer need to learn. Everything in life must continuously be studied—whether honing skills, learning languages, or learning how to navigate success as well as responding to life's dynamics calmly and wisely,” he asserted.
The second message emphasized by the Rector was consistency in upholding integrity, honesty, and independence. He reminded them that human dignity is not measured by wealth, high office, or an array of academic titles, but by the steadfastness of one's integrity.
“Not everyone is able to maintain integrity because it is the fundamental value of a human being. Truth, wherever it stands, will always hold value. Never be afraid or anxious to act honestly, because integrity is a value far more principal than mere degrees we attain,” he expressed.
As for the third message, the Rector encouraged all alumni to become individuals who bring real impact and benefit to their surrounding environment, starting from the family level to institutions and the broader community.
“Be beneficial human beings. Help those in need, and foster empathy for the hardships of others. That usefulness must be continuously practiced so that it radiates in daily life,” he added.
Closing his address, the Rector reminded the alumni to always carry and safeguard the good name of their alma mater, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, as well as their families wherever they serve.
“In your hearts and on your chests lies the name of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta alumni. Love UIN, develop its scholarly fields, and uphold the dignity of your alma mater and your family as best as possible,” he concluded.
