Rector condemns suicide bombing attack in Makassar
Rectorate, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis considered the suicide bombings is not a reflection of religious teachings and national values adhered to by the Indonesian nation.
“As a Rector of UIN Jakarta, I strongly condemn the suicide bombing that recently took place in Makassar,” said Amany to UIN News Online in her office, Wednesday (03/31/2021).
According to Rector, this action cannot be tolerated and contrary to the values of any religious teachings. “Islam places great emphasis on the principles of living in peace and harmony. Islamic teachings recognize the term daarul 'aman or daarussalam, which means a safe and peaceful country,” she said.
To that end, Rector invited all Muslims to properly strengthen their understanding on religious teachings. She also invited Muslims to increase their faith and devotion to Allah SWT in order to avoid bad and uncontrollable traits
“I also invite all academic community of UIN Jakarta to remain vigilant,” she added.
She also hopes that all academic community of UIN Jakarta will continue to strengthen the attitude of religious moderation on campus and in society.
For information, on March 28, 2021, there was a suicide bombing carried out by two at the entrance gate of Cathedral Church in Makassar, South Sulawesi. As a result of this explosion, severasl people became victims. (usa/ns)
