Rector closes French language course for students

Student Affairs Office, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis virtually closed the implementation of French language courses on Friday (10/16/2020). Present in the event, Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs Masri Mansoer, Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Development Andi Faisal Bakti, Head of LPM UIN Jakarta Muhammad Zuhdi, and AAKK bureau chief Jaenuddin.

Also present in the event, the Student Affairs Division head M Ikhwan, Sub-division Head of Talent Development and Student Interest Arief Ariyanto Ariadi, Sub-division Head of Alumni Affairs Agus Salim, Sub-division Head of Student Administration Rosmayenni. Representatives from IFI and the French Embassy were also present at the closing ceremony, including IFI Director Cooperation Counselor Stéphane Dovert and IFI Linguistic Cooperation Attaché.

Rector in her closing remarks stated that she really appreciates this event. She also hopes that the results of this course can be useful for students in mastering foreign languages.

“In principle, I am very happy and proud because many students are starting to have an interest in foreign languages, not only French but also English, Arabic, Korean and Mandarin. Your marketable skills in the global economy are improved if you master another language,” Said Amany.

The French language course has been completely held for one month starting on September 15, 2020. The implementation of this course aims to improve the quality of soft skills, competence, and student professionalism. The course was attended by 20 participants, both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Technically, this virtual French course consists of 24 sessions. The duration of the course is 150 minutes per session or 60 hours in one month. Of the 24 sessions, there was one special session for direct native speakers from France, namely Sylvain Lelong-Lacroix (Coordinator of Campus France Indonesia) and guided by a person in charge of the course, Syarah Andriani.
