Rector Amany Lubis: UIN Jakarta Supports the Achievement of SDGs
Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis said that UIN Jakarta had contributed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that had been agreed upon by 193 countries in 2015.
This was stated by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis in her speech at the 124th Graduation Ceremony of UIN Jakarta held at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, campus I of UIN Jakarta on Saturday (06/04/2022).
“UIN Jakarta has contributed to achieving the target of the Sustainable Development Goals. Through education, UIN Jakarta becomes a forum for fostering all fields that can help the 17 targets of the SDGs,” said Rector Amany.
Furthermore, she said, things that still need to be considered are poverty, economic inequality, and environmental damage. With justice, equality, concern, tolerance, and religious moderation that UIN Jakarta applies continuously, it becomes an effort to support the achievement of the SDGs goals.
In line with Rector Amany, Chairman of the Expert Council of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) Ilham Akbar Habibie in his speech said that UIN Jajarta has been proven to actively contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
“This is evidenced by by the integration that UIN Jakarta already has, namely science, Islamic values, and Indonesian values, as well as the UIN Jakarta motto of knowledge, piety, integrity,” said Ilham.
Globalization that makes everything faster, he said, demands the Indonesian citizens to increase digital literacy in order to find solutions so they can innovate with new and different methods and perspectives.
Furthermore, Ilham Akbar said that to innovate, it is necessary to have a certain way of working, namely openness and collaboration. “Collaboration is also very much needed, because with the spirit of togetherness, we can get a solution,” he said.
Ilham Akbar added, by implementing this working method, solutions and innovations to achieve the SDGs will continue to emerge. “This effort must continue to be pursued for the benefit of the community, the world, and the people,” he added. (ns/dima/usa).
