Ranita UIN Jakarta helps the Mount Semeru eruption victims

Rectorate, UIN News OnlineKelompok Mahasiswa Pecinta Lingkungan dan Kemanusiaan (KMPLHK) Ranita UIN Jakarta provided humanitarian assistance to victims affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java. Humanitarian assistance was carried out by two members of Ranita, namely Yogi “Tapang” Handika and Fitri “Ceba” Diani.

They began traveling to Lumajang on December 6, 2021 after previously being released on campus by the Head of Student Affairs division, Ikhwan. They then joined a team of other volunteers to conduct field assessments, evacuate victims, and aid distribution.

Information obtained from Ranita's Public Relations Unit, Thursday (12/09/2021), stated that the activities of two Ranita volunteers in Lumajang focused at Penanggal Village, Candipuro District. This location was one of the areas affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru on December 4th.

“Based on the results of the Ranita team's assessment, there are at least 11 villages in the two most severely affected sub-districts, namely Candipuro District and Pronojiwo District,” said Ranita’s PR Eriza.

The same data also stated that there were 75,730 victims, consisting of 46,360 from Candipuro Subdistricts and 29,376 from Pronojiwo Subdistricts. Among them, there were also 5 people with minor injuries, 32 people with serious injuries, and 25 patients who were referred to the Penanggal Health Center and 12 other people who were referred to several nearby hospitals.

Eriza also said that in order to ease the burden of Semeru volcano eruption victims, Ranita is currently raising humanitarian funds.
