Rabhitah Al-Jamiah Al-Islamiyah-UIN Jakarta Holds Education Symposium in Egypt

Rectorate, UIN News Online – Rabhitah Al-Jamiah Al-Islamiyah in collaboration with UIN Jakarta held an Education Symposium entitled "Al-Azhar and Its Role in Cultural and Scientific Integration Between Egypt and Southeast Asian Countries: Indonesia as a Model" at the Al-Azhar University campus in Cairo, Egypt, on April 10, 2022.

The symposium presented speakers, Ambassador and Minister of State for Immigration and Foreign Affairs Nabila Makram Abdel Shaheed, Rector of Al-Azhar University Muhammad Al-Mahrasawi and Secretary General of the Muslim World League and Deputy Chair of the Religious Committee of the DPR Osama Al-Abd.

Also present in the event, Egyptian Minister of Endowments Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, Grand Mufti of Egypt Shawky Allam, Head of the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center and Egyptian Family House Representative Anba Jeremiah, Deputy Secretary of Al-Azhar Muhammad al-Duwaini, Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis, and representatives of the Sultanate of Brunei. The symposium was hosted by Big Radio announcer Saad Al-Muta'ni.

Nabila Makram Abdel Shaheed in her speech, as reported by Rector Amany Lubis from Cairo on Tuesday (04/12/2022) emphasized that Al-Azhar is foundation that opens doors for the Egyptian people and strengthens ties with the Egyptian Church in order to maintain true integration and solidarity.

“They are a source of messages of love and loyalty to the homeland as well as brotherly support among the Egyptian people,” she said.

She also appreciated the collaboration between the Al-Azhar Foundation and the Orthodox Church. “Our role is to instill tolerance and acceptance of each other,” she added.

In addition, she also wishes to participate in the celebration. This coincides with the more than 1,000th anniversary of the founding of Al-Azhar, the worldwide institution of moderation and tolerance. (ns/al/usa)
