PTKIN Medical Faculty Consortium Launched to Strengthen Research and Community Health Impact
Prof. MK Tadjudin Auditorium, UIN News Online — The Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, through the Directorate General of Islamic Education (Pendis), has called for stronger collaboration among Medical Faculties (FK) within State Islamic Universities (PTKIN). This commitment was formalized through the launch of the PTKIN Medical Faculty Consortium, held at the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, on Tuesday (24/02/2026).
The event, themed “Synergy in Medical Education Based on Values, Quality, and Impact,” brought together the Director General of Islamic Education Prof. Amien Suyitno, Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, vice rectors, and members of the academic community of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta.
Deans from six PTKIN medical faculties also attended the event, representing UIN Jakarta, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, UIN Alauddin Makassar, UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, and UIN Walisongo Semarang.
Director General of Islamic Education Prof. Amien Suyitno emphasized that PTKIN medical faculties carry a distinct mandate to respond to national health challenges through community-centered approaches. He stressed that the consortium should move beyond academic coordination and evolve into a platform for real social action.
“All PTKIN medical faculties must be able to deliver real contributions, especially in empowering communities through healthcare services such as free medical check-ups (CKG). Many pesantren and students still need proper health services,” he said.
Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar highlighted the importance of strengthening quality assurance while ensuring that PTKIN medical faculties maintain a clear academic and institutional distinction compared to conventional medical schools.
“Medical faculties under PTKIN must offer added value. It is not just about having a medical faculty, but about what meaningful contribution we bring to society,” he stated.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki, M.Epid, Sp.OT, FICS, as host of the event, explained that the consortium was established to synchronize the development of the six PTKIN medical faculties.
He noted that the collaboration will cover education, research, and community service under a more integrated framework.
“We aim to implement the Tridharma of Higher Education while maintaining each faculty’s uniqueness, yet still moving within a shared PTKIN vision,” he said.
He also added that one of the consortium’s strategic priorities is the development of joint elective modules and collaborative research focusing on themes related to Islamic medical scholarship.
The launch of the consortium was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement among the leaders of the participating medical faculties. This milestone is expected to strengthen academic networking and research collaboration in Islamic-based medical education in Indonesia, while expanding impactful healthcare services for wider society.
