PSGA UIN Jakarta Organize FGD
Diorama, UIN NEWS Online – Center for the Study of Gender and Child (PSGA) UIN Jakarta organized Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Wednesday (22/03), at Diorama room, first floor of Auditorium Harun Nasution. The event which themed Gender Mainstreaming through Students Organizations is participated by several Chief of Student Activities Unit (UKM) , and other student organizations in UIN Jakarta.
The event opened by Head of Bureauof Academic Administration, Student and Cooperation(AAK) Drs H ZaenalArifinMPdI, presenting several speakers. They are, among others, DrHjNurArfiyahFebriani MA (Head of Doctorate Program of Quran Sciences and Tafsir Study ProgramatQuran Sciences Institute (PTIQ) Jakarta), LilikSumarniSSosMSi (Lecturer and Head of PSPGA UMJ), also Head of Center for the Study of Gender and Child (PSGA) UIN Jakarta Ir Rahmi Purnomowati MSi.
In his speech, Zaenal said that the event was very good and would have a positive impact for all. Because, with this event, the correct interpretation and comprehensive information on gender will be discovered.
“There are still many people who misunderstood gender issue, even application in their daily lives are often deviates from the true meaning of gender equality, "said Zaenal.
On the same occasion, Nur Arfiyah explained about gender in the eyes of Islam. He said that in Islam, equality of rights and responsibilities between men and women has been much discussed thoroughly in the Qur'an.
“Gender equality has been exemplified by the Prophet. Where the Prophet Muhammad always put himself on an equal footing, as a husband, a father, a leader, even as the Prophet. He is also doing things that have long been regarded as a task of women, such as sewing her own clothes, even help his wife when cooking, "said Arfiyah.
In the same place, other speaker, LilikSumarni explained the topic of Building a communication strategy in Gender Perspective. In general, Lilik said that gender equality will appear, when communication is established between the male and female is balanced. The reason for deviation of gender justice and equality are the result of one way communication and uncommunicative.
Still at the event, the head of PSGA. Rahmi Purnomowati, also explained several matters related to gender. He explained about gender justice and gender equality. According to her, gender justice is a process that is balanced between men and women in gaining access, participation, control and benefit.
“While gender equality is, an equal conditions between men and women in achieving basic rights within the family, community, nation and the world, "said Rahmi.
Rahmi also advised, for us to always avoid actions that reflect gender inequality. Such as marginalization, subordination, labeling, giving a double burden, and violence.
As UIN NEWS team observed, the participants were so enthusiastic to follow the course of the event. In addition, at the end of the delivery, the speakers are always open question and answer session that makes the show more warm and communicative. (rs)
