PSGA UIN Jakarta Holds FGD to Draft Sexual Violence Prevention Guidelines
UIN Jakarta, UIN News Online — The Center for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta reaffirmed its commitment to preventing sexual violence by holding a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on drafting a sexual violence prevention guideline book. The discussion took place online via Zoom Meeting on Wednesday (April 23).
Carrying the theme “Creating a Safe Campus Free from Sexual Violence,” the event aimed to produce a comprehensive guideline for all members of UIN Jakarta's academic community, focusing on prevention efforts, response mechanisms, and the creation of a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Initiated by PSGA UIN Jakarta, the FGD was attended by 30 participants, including the Rector of UIN Jakarta, the Head of LP2M, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, members of the PPKS ERTRI Task Force (Safe, Friendly, and Caring Campus), PSGA’s In-Campus KKN students, UIN Jakarta's Dharma Wanita Association, PSGA representatives from IIQ and UMJ, as well as the university’s Public Information and Public Relations Center.
In her opening remarks, Head of PSGA UIN Jakarta, Dr. Wiwi Siti Sajaroh, M.Ag., stated that the development of this guideline represents a strategic step to strengthen the university's efforts in responding to and preventing cases of sexual violence.
“This guideline is expected to serve as a main reference for all parties within the campus environment,” she explained.
The FGD featured three speakers from various academic and social backgrounds.
Dr. Ana Sabhana Azmy, M.I.P., a lecturer in Political Science from UPN Veteran Jakarta, opened the session by discussing the core substance of the draft.
“The guideline should not only be normative but also practical and easily understood by all campus stakeholders,” she said.
Charles Dasiva, S.Sos., a professional social worker, served as the second speaker and emphasized the need to strengthen institutional mechanisms in dealing with gender-based violence.
“Higher education institutions must have a responsive system that prioritizes survivors. Without such a system, effective handling is difficult to achieve,” he remarked.
The third speaker, Muhammad Faris Fitriansyah, S.Sos., from Dakara Public Relations, highlighted the role of social support in assisting survivors of gender-based violence.
“Solidarity and a supportive environment are crucial for survivors to heal and return to normal life,” he added.
Through the FGD, PSGA UIN Jakarta demonstrated its concrete support for addressing the issue of sexual violence, positioning the activity not just as a formality, but as part of a broader movement to transform the university’s cultural landscape.
“This is part of our moral responsibility as an educational institution in creating a safe learning space,” said one of the committee representatives.
It is hoped that the draft guideline will be finalized soon and implemented effectively by all academic members of UIN Jakarta in building a campus that is safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive.
