Providing Food and Welfare Support for University Staff
Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta recognises the importance of supporting members of staff who may experience financial and food-related vulnerability. Through the University's Social Trust Fund, food assistance and welfare support are provided to lower-income support personnel working across the University. These initiatives include cleaning personnel, security officers, food-service personnel, drivers, and other members of the University's operational support workforce.
Food and Welfare Assistance in 2024
During Ramadan 2024, the Social Trust Fund of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta distributed assistance to 30 support staff members working within the University. Beneficiaries included cleaning personnel, security officers, food-service personnel, and drivers.
The assistance included financial support, food-related packages, and community health-protection benefits. The program was funded through zakat fitrah, infaq, sadaqah, and fidyah collected and managed by the University's Social Trust Fund.
Expanded Food Support in 2025
The program continued and expanded during Ramadan 2025. A total of 87 support staff members at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta received assistance. Each beneficiary received IDR 150,000 in financial assistance and three cans of prepared rendang, providing both direct financial and food support.
A total of IDR 13.28 million was distributed through this component of the program. The beneficiaries again included cleaning personnel, security staff, food-service personnel, and drivers working within the University environment.
Institutional Philanthropy and Staff Welfare
The Social Trust Fund manages zakat, infaq, sadaqah, waqf, and other philanthropic resources to respond to social and economic needs within and beyond the University. Food and welfare assistance for staff demonstrates how institutional philanthropy can provide targeted support to employees whose economic circumstances may make them more vulnerable to increases in living and food costs.
Continuing Support for the University Community
The continuation of staff-support programs in both 2024 and 2025 demonstrates an institutional commitment to ensuring that the welfare needs of support personnel are not overlooked. Through direct food provision, financial assistance, and philanthropic support, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta contributes to reducing food-related financial pressure among lower-income members of its workforce.
These initiatives form part of the University's wider commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive campus community for both students and staff.
