Provide Mentoring, Counselling, or Peer Support Programmes to Support Students, Staff, and Faculty From Underrepresented Groups

Peer support is often the first place students turn to when sharing their difficulties. Therefore, the Faculty of Psychology at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, through the Student Psychological Well-being Service (LKPM), equips students with basic psychological support skills before they serve as peer counselors.

The Hear2Care training was held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Faculty of Psychology. The training was facilitated by clinical psychologist Yeny Duriana Wijaya, M.Psi., Psikolog. The event was attended by the Vice Dean III and the Head of LKPM, who delivered opening remarks and encouraged participants to take the training seriously.

The first topic was Psychological First Aid (PFA), which involves skills to help individuals experiencing difficulties feel calm and cope with challenging situations or crises through the steps of Look, Listen, and Link. The second topic covered basic counseling skills, including listening, questioning, observation, providing support, and summarizing. The facilitator also emphasized the importance of continuous learning and practice, as well as maintaining the confidentiality of those receiving support.
