Promoting Gender and Social Equality: FU UIN Jakarta Engages with STAI Sadra in Public Discussion

Jakarta, UIN Online News — The Faculty of Ushuluddin of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta held a public discussion under the theme “Nurturing Equality, Strengthening Justice.”

The forum, organized by the Forum Ngaji Gender in collaboration with Philosophy Corner and supported by the School of Strategic and Global Studies (SKSG), University of Indonesia, created a space for critical dialogue between academics, students, and the wider public on Monday (September 8, 2025).

The program was opened by Dr. Kholid Al Walid, M.Ag., lecturer of Islamic Creed and Philosophy, and featured two keynote speakers: Dr. Fardiana Fikria Q., M.Ud., a seasoned scholar in gender and social justice studies, and Dr. Neng Dara Affiah. The discussion was attended by about 20 participants from UIN Jakarta and STAI Sadra.

In her presentation, Dr. Fardiana emphasized that gender equality is a foundational value that must be preserved.

“Equality is not just a slogan; it is a principle that must be practiced in education, in families, and in society as a whole system. Therefore, balanced relationships create harmony within our social construction,” she stated.

Dr. Neng Dara Affiah highlighted the critical role of younger generations in advancing social justice.

“The struggle for gender equality cannot be separated from the broader humanity issues. Students and young people must take an active role in upholding the values of justice,” she noted.

The discussion was interactive and informative, with students raising questions on social relations, equality in education, and religious life. Their engagement reflected the continuing relevance of the theme for academic, student, and community discourse for cultivating collective awareness.

This collaborative public discussion is expected to strengthen the FU UIN Jakarta's role in fostering a shared consciousness toward a harmonic and equal society.
