Profound Contributor in Islamic Maternal Nursing: Professor Irma Nurbaeti
Jakarta, UIN Online News - Dr. Irma Nurbaeti, is a Professor at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, and also a specialist in maternal nursing science and public health. She has performed comprehensive study on professional nursing services throughout the productive, pregnancy, and postpartum periods in women.
Professor Irma, among with UIN Jakarta's researchers, aims to integrate Islamic principles with scientific theories. Her research study, "The Effectiveness of Dhikr in Reducing Anxiety and Labor Pain During the Active Phase of the First Stage Among Primigravida," addresses the efficacy of dhikr in alleviating anxiety and pain during labor's active phase. This study's findings demonstrate that dhikr effectively reduces anxiety levels during labor in primigravida up to 59.8%.
Professor Irma obtained her Bachelor's degree in Nursing Science and Master's degree in Public Health at the University of Indonesia in 1994, thereafter pursued doctoral degree from the Faculty of Nursing at Burapha University in 2017.
In addition to her teaching and research, Professor Irma is actively engaged in community service. In early 2025, she was appointed as the Chairperson of the Indonesian Maternity Nurses Association (IPEMI) branch of Jakarta for the 2025-2030 period. She formerly held the position of Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) UIN Jakarta from 2019 to 2023 and now serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors Central for Indonesian Lecturers Forum (FDI).
Professor Irma Nurbaeti, by her commitment to integrating Islamic principles with scientific inquiry, stands as a prominent researcher and an inspirational role model for nursing students. Her dedication and contribution aligns with UIN Jakarta's vision towards the advancement of maternity nursing science in Indonesia.
