Professor Steven Eric Krauss Shares Academic Writing Tips
Rectorate, UIN News Online – Professor Steven Eric Krauss, one of the professors at Universiti Putra Malaysia, had the opportunity to share productive tips for writing articles in recognized journals. He conveyed his tips when attending the kick of the 5th International Colloquium on Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies (ICIIS) meeting, Tuesday (04/26/2022). The online kick off was attended by lecturers and students of postgraduate programs at UIN Jakarta, UIN Jambi, UIN Mataram, and I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa State Hindu University Denpasar.
According to Krauss, academic work published in recognized journals is one of the benchmarks for an academic's performance. However, to produce a quality academic paper, it takes hard work and academic perseverance.
“There are several things that you can prepare to publish your scientific work with high impact,” he said.
The first thing a writer needs to do is read a lot of journal articles on writing-related topics. Then the author is also required to improve his research methodological knowledge or expertise.
Furthermore, the author of the article should also ask colleagues to review the manuscript of the article like a reviewer of a journal. Next, the author submits the article to the appropriate journal. If asked to make revisions, the author should remain consistent in doing so.
Professor Krauss added that article writers are advised to stand firm in their chosen area of academic contribution, prepare drafts, and write articles as a team.
Professor Krauss is here to motivate lecturers and graduate students involved in ICIIS 2022. The 5th ICIIS entitled 'Religion, Education, Science and Technology Towards a More Inclusive and Sustainable Future' is planned to be held in Lombok on 19-22 October 2022.
Director of Graduate School (SPs) UIN Jakarta Asep Saepudin Jahar in the kick off meeting of ICIIS said that the colloquium that was held invited the academic community of UIN Jakarta to participate in sending their best articles.
“We invite fellow lecturers as well as postgraduate students to write articles that can be presented at the conference. Insha Allah, this will offer a good experience in presenting research results,” said Asep.
Asep also said that the selected articles had the opportunity to be published as book entries to be published by Taylor & Francis. The committee openly welcomes research articles from five areas, namely Religious & Islamic Studies, Education & Psychology, Economics, Science, and Social Science. (zm/usa)
