Professor Sri Mulyati: Women have a vital role for the state
Rectorate, UIN News Online – Professor from the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) UIN Jakarta Sri Mulyati said that women have an important role for a country. This was said by Sri Mulyani in her speech during virtual Khotmul Qur'an on Thursday (12/16/2021).
Present in the event, Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis, Chairman of the Center for the Study of Al-Qur'an Faizah Ali Sybromalisi, Chair of DWP UIN Jakarta Fauziah Ahmad Rodoni, Vice Rectors, Bureau Chiefs, heads of institutions, and students.
The recitation and prayer of the Khotmul Qur'an was carried out by the lecturer of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Afidah Wahyuni, and the reading of the holy verses by the lecturer of the Faculty of Ushuluddin Tien Rahmatin. The event was hosted by Nurul Hidayati from the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Science.
According to Sri Mulyati, the role of women, especially mothers, is very noble. Pregnant women, for example, have played a role in praying for the child to be born healthy and safe, pious, and have noble character.
After the child is born, a mother will accompany, look after and raise her child. In addition, the mother also plays a dual role. Apart from being a housewife, she sometimes joins in earning a living to help her husband.
Furthermore, the doctoral graduate from McGill University Canada revealed that the Qur'anic character for a mother is very decisive for the survival of a country. As in an Arabic expression it is said that women are the pillars of the state. If women are good then the country will stand strong and vice versa
Therefore, according to Sri Mulyati, the moral values of the Qur'an in Islam are important. This character has been instilled in children since they were still in the womb. For example, in traditional society, there is a tradition of reading the Qur'an Surah Yusuf and Surah Maryam while the child is still in the womb. It is intended that later the child born will be pious and noble in character.
“Therefore, the role of a mother is truly extraordinary,” she said. (ns/usa)
