Prof. Andi Faisal Bakti Succeeds Prof. Dede Rosyada as Head of UIN Jakarta Senate
Diorama Room, UIN Online News – The Senate of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially appointed Prof. Andi M. Faisal Bakti, M.A., Ph.D. as Chair and Prof. Bambang Suryadi, Ph.D. as Secretary of the University Senate for the 2026–2030 term during the Plenary Meeting for the Election of the Senate Chair and Secretary in the Diorama Room on Monday (24/8/2026). The two replace Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, M.A. (Chair) and Prof. Dr. Masri Mansoer, M.Ag. (Secretary), whose terms of office have concluded.
The meeting was attended by 120 Senate members and presided over by Presidium I, Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim, M.Ag., and Presidium II, Dr. Yunita Faela Nisa, M.Psi. Following the reading and approval of the rules of order and the presentation of willing candidates, the election was conducted through a voting process.
In the vote count for the position of Chair, Prof. Andi M. Faisal Bakti, M.A., Ph.D. secured 65 votes, followed by Prof. Muhammad Zuhdi, M.Ed., Ph.D. (53 votes), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rodoni, M.M. (2 votes), and Prof. Bambang Suryadi, Ph.D. (1 vote). Meanwhile, for the position of Secretary, Prof. Bambang Suryadi led with 61 votes, followed by Prof. Andi M. Faisal Bakti (53 votes), Prof. Muhammad Zuhdi (7 votes), and Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rodoni (0 votes). The total tally recorded 121 votes, including the vote cast by the Rector.
On that occasion, the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of selecting Senate leadership based on an understanding of UIN, loyalty, dedication, integrity, and track record. The Rector stressed that the election of the Senate Chair and Secretary must be viewed as a process defining the institutional direction of UIN Jakarta through demonstrated commitment, rather than a mere leadership transition.
“Your choice will determine the direction of UIN. Does he have love for UIN? That must be proven. Checked, track-recorded—that is important to me,” the Rector stated in his remarks.
In addition, Prof. Andi M. Faisal Bakti expressed his determination to restore the Senate's function as the guardian of academic dignity while strengthening its position in university governance. He noted that the Senate should not be limited to administrative affairs alone, but must safeguard academic freedom and ethics, the quality of professors and lecturers, as well as scholarly standards.
This vision is also aimed at fostering a constructive relationship between the Senate and the Rector, enabling both to work together in advancing the university.
“The Senate is not only a guardian of academic integrity, but primarily exists to preserve academic freedom, academic ethics, the quality of professors and lecturers, and scientific standards,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Senate for the 2022–2026 period, Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, M.A., leaves behind several key achievements, including the strengthening of human resources, the development of a curriculum more adaptive to social life and professional needs, and the reinforcement of ethics among lecturers, staff, and students. The Senate report for that period recorded that 86 lecturers were processed from Associate Professors to Full Professors, and 73 Full Professors were inaugurated across 13 open sessions.
He also entrusted the revision of the UIN Jakarta Statute as one of the important tasks to be continued by the incoming leadership. According to him, the statute, which has been in place for a considerable time, needs to be updated in accordance with the university's development and academic direction so that it can serve as a foundation for future policy-making.
“What we earnestly want to emphasize is regarding the UIN statute,” he stated.
This leadership transition marks the conclusion of the term of service for Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, M.A. and Prof. Dr. Masri Mansoer, M.Ag. as Chair and Secretary of the University Senate for the 2022–2026 period. For their dedication, contributions, and service in maintaining academic governance, the academic community of UIN Jakarta expresses its highest appreciation.
