Press Release: 68th Anniversary: UIN Jakarta Will Hold Open Senate Session
Jakarta, UIN Online News — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta will commemorate its 68th anniversary with an open senate session at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Wednesday (September 24, 2025).
Founded in 1957, UIN Jakarta has undergone a historic journey, evolving from ADIA into IAIN and later into the current title of UIN. This year’s celebration highlights the institution’s transformation while reaffirming its dedication to being the best in Islamic higher education.
Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., stated that the 68th anniversary carries the theme, “68 Years of ADIA/IAIN/UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta: Promising Global Reputation in Educating Future Leaders Toward Golden Indonesia 2045.”
“At its 68th birthday, UIN Jakarta will grow better in the future, surpassing its past legacy. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that our graduates are globally competitive, grounded in Islamic values, and capable of making real contributions for Indonesia,” Prof. Asep affirmed.
The Open Senate Session will be attended by university leaders, professors, faculty members, administrative staff, and students, as well as alumni, representatives from government agencies, and international partners.
The program will begin with istighosah and a national prayer led by Dr. KH. Ahmad Shodiq, M.A., followed by the national anthem and the UIN Jakarta Hymn, Qur’anic recitation, and prayers. The session will be formally opened by Senate Chair Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, M.A., followed by remarks from a student representative and UIN Alumni Association (IKALUIN) Chair Dr. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzili, M.Si. Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar and Minister of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A. will also deliver speeches. The event will feature congratulatory video messages and artistic performances and conclude with an award ceremony.
Complementing the formal proceedings, the celebration will also include academic reflections, scholarly orations, alumni testimonials, and cultural showcases that represent the richness of Islamic and national values.
As an Islamic-based university with the status of a Public Service Agency (BLU), UIN Jakarta continues to enhance its institutional capacity and international partnerships, aiming to strengthen its role as a center of excellence in education, research, and community engagement.
