PPB UIN Jakarta develops 3 featured programs

PPB, UIN News Online – The Head of Center for Language Development (PPB) UIN Jakarta Siti Nurul Azkiya said, UIN Jakarta through PPB continues to develop foreign language skills for both academics and the general public. There are three featured programs developed, namely language competency development, language proficiency measurement, and translation.

“This language development is a routine program. This program is not only targeting the academic community, but also the general public,” said Nurul to UIN News Online in her office, Tuesday (10/13/2020).

Nurul explained that the development of language competence is carried out through foreign language courses, such as English, Arabic, Korean, French, and Indonesian language courses for foreign students. Meanwhile, the measurement of language development is carried out through the implementation of the TOEFL / TOAFL test.

“For the translation program, PPB does not only serve internal campus circles but also other general public,” she said.

According to Nurul, PPB has a strategic role for UIN Jakarta in an effort in increasing the capacity of human resources (HR) in foreign languages. These efforts were made to support the development of UIN Jakarta as an international standard campus. Therefore strengthening foreign languages for human resources and also students is absolute, especially since UIN Jakarta is heading towards a world class university (WCU).

In addition to language institutions such as PPB UIN Jakarta, she continued, there are also several study programs that develop foreign languages, such as Arabic and English at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training and the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. The institutes for Foreign language development are always coordinated so the strategic steps in strengthening foreign languages skills among the academic community went smoothly according to plan.
