PORSi JAWARA II Officially Opens, Director General of Islamic Education Urges PTKIN Students to Develop Talents
Pekalongan, UIN News Online - Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Amien Suyitno, officially opened the 2nd Sports, Arts, and Scientific Week (PORSi) JAWARA II for State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) across Java and Madura at UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan, Wednesday (09/09/2026). The opening marked the launch of a competition bringing together PTKIN students across sports, arts, and scientific disciplines.
Opening Ceremony PORSi JAWARA II was attended by delegations from 18 PTKINs across Java and Madura. The presence of the contingents formed part of the opening proceedings before students engaged in various competitions while fostering opportunities for interaction and fellowship among students from different universities.
In his remarks, Prof. Amien Suyitno highlighted the diversity of student talent as a key strength of PTKINs. He noted that student capabilities are not confined to academics, but also flourish through avenues that enable them to demonstrate their abilities in sports, arts, and scientific fields.
“PTKIN serves as a multi-talented campus because the talents within PTKIN are highly diverse. Students do not merely focus on or excel in a single area, but possess potential across multiple fields, ranging from sports and arts to scientific pursuits,” stated Prof. Amien Suyitno.
According to Prof. Amien Suyitno, this diversity needs to be nurtured so that students acquire broader capacities to face various challenges. PORSi JAWARA II serves as a platform bringing together these diverse skills through direct competitive experience.
“From these diverse talents, we hope to foster a young generation that not only excels in a single skill set, but also possesses creativity, character, competitiveness, and the ability to contribute across various fields,” he continued.
Beyond technical ability, he emphasized the importance of students' attitude during the competition. Competition in PORSi JAWARA II should be viewed as a process to test one's capabilities while learning to respect fellow participants.
“Feel free to compete and show your very best. However, remain competitive and supportive. Do not let competition compromise our spirit of brotherhood and sportsmanship,” he advised.
PORSi JAWARA II is not aimed solely at producing winners in each contested category. The gathering of students from 18 PTKINs also offers opportunities to build experience, expand networks, and strengthen inter-campus relations.
“This event is not merely about finding champions. There is a learning process, experience, fellowship, and brotherhood that we must build together. Therefore, make PORSi JAWARA a momentum for growth and for giving your best,” he expressed.
As the host institution, UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan served as the venue for the PORSi JAWARA II series involving PTKINs across Java and Madura. The competition brings students together across three domains: sports, arts, and scientific endeavors.
The opening of PORSi JAWARA II demonstrates that student development within PTKINs does not stop at a single domain of capability. Through diverse competitive spaces, students are encouraged to develop their talents while building character, sportsmanship, experience, and networks as part of shaping a multi-talented generation.
