Ruang Diorama, Berita UIN Online - UIN Jakarta held a PKP (Public Knowledge Project) in the UIN Jakarta Diorama Room on Friday (23/2/2024). Prof. Dr. Ahmad, Tholabi S. Ag., S. H., M. H., M. A., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs in his opening speech, emphasized the importance of maintaining and improving the reputation of international journals.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ahmad also emphasized UIN Jakarta's commitment to managing and improving their journal system.

"The strength of scientific journals lies in the high commitment and enthusiasm of their managers," he said.

PKP Community Engagement and Outreach Librarian, Urooj Nazzami Ph.D as the main speaker, mentioned that Indonesia is the largest OJS (Open Journal System) user in the world with 17 thousand OJS users.

"Indonesia is an important country to develop OJS from version 2 to version 3 so that there are no barriers to access in many countries," he said

In his presentation, he announced the PKP project for 2024 with a target of reaching 44,000 OJS users worldwide. In an effort to develop OJS in Indonesia, PKP set several main goals, namely increasing technical capabilities, integrating ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), and providing benefits to the OJS community focus.

Urooj Nazzami also announced plans for the PKP project. The plan includes Initial coordination outreach, on-site engagement and capacity building, as well as post-engagement glow-up training.

Apart from that, another aim of his stay for two weeks in Indonesia was to inform that representatives from several universities, such as UIN Jakarta, Bina Nusantara University, and Gajahmada University and others, would be invited via e-mail to Canada as part of the OJS project.

In line with the plans presented by Urooj Nazzami, Head of IT Support at the UIN Jakarta Computer Center, Abdullah S. Kom highlighted the need to increase technical training to improve the quality of OJS at UIN Jakarta.

He hopes that OJS UIN Jakarta can be improved with a special focus on journal management guidelines for journal houses, technical training and understanding SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for journal managers. As a result of this activity, it is hoped that the research foundation in Southeast Asia will become stronger and Indonesia will continue to be the main driver in the development of OJS globally.
