Rectorate Building, UIN News Online – UIN Syarif Jakarta has installed Pelican Crossing in front of Campus I, located on Jl. Ir. H. Juanda. This initiative aims to increase the sense of safety for students who frequently cross the road in that area.

This was conveyed by the Head of General Affairs, Drs. Saroni, to UIN News Online on Sunday (14/07/2024). According to Saroni, Pelican, which stands for “pedestrian light-controlled crossings”, are traffic light systems specifically designed to prioritize pedestrians.

With pelican crossings, he said, it is hoped that students can cross the road more safely and comfortably, reducing the risk of accidents.

"We sincerely hope that the installation of Pelican lights will enhance the sense of safety for our students who cross Jl. Ir. H. Juanda every day," he stated. "This is part of our commitment to creating a safe and friendly campus environment for the entire academic community," he added.

Although Pelican Crossing have been installed, UIN Jakarta urges road users to respect pedestrians. It is expected that with these lights, drivers will pay more attention to pedestrians and give them the opportunity to cross safely.

This initiative has received positive feedback from students and the surrounding community. They feel that with the Pelican lights, safety around the campus will be better maintained.

Furthermore, Saroni also mentioned that the installation of Pelican crossing is part of UIN Jakarta's ongoing efforts to enhance safety and comfort on campus. Previously, UIN Jakarta also installed pelican crossing at the PPG Campus of UIN Jakarta, on Jalan Raya Parung-Ciputat, Bojongsari Depok.

"UIN Jakarta is committed to continuously innovating and addressing the needs of the academic community in creating a conducive learning environment," he concluded.
