PBAK 2025: UIN Jakarta Alumni Share Insights on National Resilience and Inclusive Thought Traditions

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News — During the Introduction to Academic Culture and Student Affairs (PBAK) 2025 at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on Tuesday (August 26, 2025), two distinguished alumni delivered key sessions focusing on "National Resilience and the Role of Youth in Achieving Indonesia Emas 2045," as well as UIN Jakarta’s intellectual traditions and inclusive mindset.

The two alumni were Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si, Head of the National Resilience Agency, and Zezen Zaenal Mutaqin, S.J.D., a seasoned lecturer at UIN Jakarta’s Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) since 2011, with extensive experience working with international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

During the talk show session, Dr. Ace Hasan Syadzily encouraged the new students to embrace this new stage of life as a transformative journey — from academic learning to becoming a generation that is critical, intelligent, and deeply rooted in national character. He emphasized that UIN Jakarta students are among the key figures who will shape Indonesia Emas 2045 and are privileged to receive their education at this institution.

“For me, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is more than just an educational institution. It is a center for character development, grounded in Islamic values, scientific knowledge, and national identity — preparing us to meet the challenges of the times,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Zezen Zaenal Mutaqin, S.J.D. shared insights about UIN Jakarta’s intellectual traditions and its inclusive, progressive approach to thought. He highlighted the difference between high school students and university students, particularly in their mindset and openness to new perspectives.

“What sets university students apart is their ability to think rationally and critically, to embrace inclusivity and modernity, and to avoid exclusivity,” he said.

He added that one of UIN Jakarta’s enduring traditions is fostering an inclusive and modern outlook—a mindset that values openness in thinking, self-development, and communication. He emphasized that UIN Jakarta stands firmly on three core principles: Islamic values, modernity, and Indonesian identity; being an educated person does not mean neglecting Islamic principles.

The talk show featuring these two prominent alumni provided valuable insights and inspiration for new students as they embark on this new academic journey. The event was warmly welcomed by UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., and the university’s leadership as part of the 2025 PBAK program.
