PBAK 2025 Day Two: The Rector of UIN Jakarta Motivates Thousands of Freshmen

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News — On the second day of the Introduction to Academic Culture and Student Affairs (PBAK) 2025, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta hosted thousands of frehsmen in the Harun Nasution Auditorium, Wednesday (August 27, 2025) with the theme carried: “Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s World: Spreading Love, Nurturing the Universe.”

The event featured distinguished speakers, including Minister of Primary and Secondary Education of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, M.Ed.; Director of Advocacy, National Narcotics Board, Police Commissioner Guntur Maulana, S.T., M.Si.; Husein Ja’far Al Hadar; and Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Commission, Mochammad Afifuddin, S.Th.I., M.Si.

The event was divided into two sessions. The first session welcomed 1,110 freshmen, comprising 832 students from the Faculty of Educational Sciences (FITK) and 278 students from the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU). The second session hosted 1,291 freshmen, including 645 students from the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM), 154 students from the Faculty of Medicine (FK), and 492 students from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES).

In his address, UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Dr. Asep Saepuddin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., expressed his pride in welcoming the freshmen as part of the university’s academic family and encouraged them to nurture a strong sense of pride in becoming UIN students. He emphasized the importance of setting firm intentions in their academic journey and upholding the university’s reputation.

“I am delighted to welcome you as UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta’s students in 2025. From its roots as ADIA and later IAIN, this institution has produced numerous leaders, thinkers, and activists. Its legacy of moderate, harmonious, and tolerant scholarship is a vital contribution of its past. Therefore, as UIN students, you must take pride in this heritage and firmly resolve: I must succeed, I carry UIN’s name, and one day as alumni, I will make a great contribution to the nation and religion,” he ordered.

The Rector also underscored the importance of patriotism and the courage to dream big.

“Just like the leaders who serve our nation today, you too can become Ministers, Presidents, or Government Servants who dedicate themselves to the nation and faith. So, let go of past burdens, embrace UIN fully, and begin this new chapter with strong determination to succeed,” he motivated.
