Opening of the PBNU Seminar and Bahtsul Masail at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta

Syahida Inn Auditorium, UIN News Online - Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta held a seminar entitled “Islamic Legal Istinbath System and Bahtsul Masail - Halaqah Fikih Peradaban” on Thursday, November 28, 2024 to Friday, November 29, 2024, at Syahida Inn Auditorium.

The event, organized in collaboration with the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) and the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, aims to discuss legal issues that are relevant to the needs of contemporary society. The activity presented a number of leading Islamic law experts to discuss dynamic and contextual legal istinbath approaches.

UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, MA, Ph.D., emphasized the important role of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) not only for Indonesia, but also in a global context. “This event is important to discuss the real needs of the community in developing an understanding of Islamic law in accordance with the times,” he said.

The seminar featured a number of keynote speakers, including Prof. Dr. KH. M. Asrorun Ni'am Sholeh, MA as Katib Syuriah PBNU and Professor of FSH UIN Jakarta, and K.H. Abdul Muqsith, an Islamic law expert and senior lecturer.

The event agenda began with a keynote presentation titled “Notes on the Legal Istinbath System in Nahdlatul Ulama”, followed by a panel discussion that would discuss in depth the characteristics of Islamic law in Indonesia that are appropriate and maslahat.

The question and answer session provided an opportunity for participants to interact directly with the speakers, while the closing ceremony will present a summary of the results of the discussion and the achievements of the seminar.

The Islamic law experts in this seminar aim to produce constructive thoughts that can enrich the treasures of understanding Islamic law in accordance with the current context. Through this forum, it is expected to formulate an approach to Islamic law that is more responsive to social change and the needs of modern society.

The seminar, which took place on the campus of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, showed the commitment of religious higher education institutions in encouraging progressive and contextual Islamic legal thinking.
