Offer educational programme/outreach for local or national communities on sustainable management of land for tourism
The host, the Rector of UIN Sumatera Utara Medan, Prof. Dr. Hj. Nurhayati, M.Ag., expressed pride that the international forum was held in Medan and stressed that the cooperation is not merely symbolic but a strategic commitment to strengthen the role of Islamic universities in national development, to develop interdisciplinary research, and to produce innovation based on Islamic values that benefits society. She also called on the academic community to eliminate the dichotomy between religious and general sciences, and to create discoveries and innovations that provide concrete solutions to contemporary challenges. The Graduate School (Sekolah Pascasarjana) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, in cooperation with UIN Sumatera Utara, organized the 8th International Colloquium on Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies (ICIIS) 2025 at Le Polonia Hotel & Convention Medan from August 18 to 21, 2025. The colloquium is an annual event and an important forum for academics and researchers to discuss global issues from an Islamic perspective. The theme, “Religion, Science and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Discourses and Practical Integrations,” was chosen to bridge discussion between religious values, particularly Islam, modern science, and global efforts to achieve the SDGs. The hope is that the colloquium produces concrete ideas and solutions that combine these domains to create a better future.
