Water conservation is more effective when it reaches beyond the campus gates. Indicator 6.5.2 (Off campus water conservation support) assesses whether the university supports practical water conservation outside its own grounds. This report documents the public outreach and conservation activities of State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta runs its water conservation work through the Green Campus Development Center, established by Rector's Decrees No. 196 of 2025, No. 198 of 2025, and No. 193 of 2026, with Coordinator 1 overseeing water, energy, and waste, and through Circular No. 22 of 2024 on Water Management. Water-saving campaigns are delivered through social media and digital posters, including an appeal to reduce excessive tap water use, promotion of drinking fountains and tumblers to reduce single-use bottled water, and content on reusing ablution water. The university also runs tree planting movements (1,000 seedlings and 1 million Matoa trees), conserves banana plants to support groundwater recharge, and introduced the Green Campus Program to new students at PBAK 2025.
Water conservation messages reach the public through the university's Instagram posts and reels, while drinking fountains reduce the use of single-use bottled water. Tree planting and banana plant conservation support groundwater recharge. Together with the decrees and circular that structure the program, these activities show the university's commitment to promoting efficient water use among its community and beyond.
