SPs, UIN News Online – A total of 98 new students of the Jakarta UIN Postgraduate School (SPs) consisting of 42 Masters and 56 Doctoral programs took part in the Study and Academic Orientation. The event, which was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Zulkifli on Monday (09/02/2019), was attended by the Director of SPs UIN Jakarta Jamhari Makruf, Deputy Director Hamka Hasan, Head of Master’s Program JM Muslimin, and Head of Didin Doctoral Program Didin Saepudin.

Head of Administrative Subdivision, Asriati said, this Orientation period will last until September 4, 2019. “The orientation period for regular students is slightly different from the PMLD participants. Therefore, the timing is not carried out simultaneously and lasted only three days,” she said.

However, Asriati added, the orientation material for PMLD participants was a bit more intensive considering the participants were recipients of full scholarships from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

According to Asriati, new students must first understand the academic culture in SPs UIN Jakarta in order to adept to the campus environment, whether associated with student administration services, lecture systems and methods, scientific writing and access to international journals, learning service facilities, and research library services.

“And more importantly, the students of SPs UIN Jakarta must prioritize the religious moderation attitude,” she said.

The Orientation period was filled by a number of speakers, including the Director of SPs UIN Jakarta Jamhari Makruf, Head of Master’s Program JM Muslimin, Head of Didin Doctoral Program Didin Saepudin, and the SPs UIN Jakarta Lecturer Suwito. (usa/ns)
