New normal: Al-Jamiah Mosque holds the First Friday Congregational Prayer
Ciputat, UIN News Online – After being closed in mid-March, the Al-Jamiah Mosque, located at Campus I of UIN Jakarta, is holding a Friday Congregational Prayer on Friday, Friday (07/10/2020). The Friday's sermon was delivered by Bambang Suryadi, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Psychology.
Friday Prayer during the new normal era were carried out by applying strict health protocol such as maintaining physical distance, wearing masks, and using hand sanitizers, both before and after prayer.
The Friday Prayer was attended by approximately 200 people. They are the state civil servants (ASN) who have returned to work in the office since July 7th. Whereas in normal times, the number can reach more than 1,000 people. Congregations are not only ASNs but also students.
However, due to theoutbreak, the time for Friday prayers is shortened. Bambang Suryadi, only gaves his Friday sermons in a matter of minutes. After that, the prayer was held in an orderly manner.
Since the implementation of distance learning for the students and work from home policy for the employees, the Al-Jamiah Mosque is one of the campus facilities that is closed. The call for prayer echoes is no longer heard, including the various students activities. The campus has been quiet since then. (usa/ns)
