National Seminar: Waking up at Night is a Condition to Become a Professional Teacher
FITK, UIN News Online – A teacher is required to develop the student potentials to be a man of faith, having a noble attitude and responsibility as mandated by Law No. 20 Year 2003.
This was conveyed by the Rector of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung Prof Dr Mahmud MSi who became one of the speakers on the National Seminar held by the Department of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training (FITK) UIN Jakarta in Prof Dr Zakiyah Darajat theater, FITK Building, Campus I of UIN Jakarta. Monday (11/13/2017).
“To realize this, we need not be bothered with various education and learning theories and methods,” said Mahmud.
The key, continued Mahmud, is in al-Qur'an Surah al-Muzammil verses 2-5 which means arise (to pray) the night, except for the little - half of it or subtract it a little or add to it, and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. Indeed, we will cast upon you a heavy word.
“When a teacher finds it difficult to advise his or her students, try to check and observe the evening prayers and recitations of his/her al-Qur'an, perhaps this is what he/she has not done yet,” Said the Chairman of the Board of Islamic Education of Indonesia Management (PSPII) Lampung region period 2017-2022.
He continued, "The Amaliyah will have its traces (atsar), there is the fruit, which is qoulan tsaqiila, both oral and written. If a kindness is well derived, it will give birth to the good too," said Mahmud in front of dozens of PAI teachers as participants who come from various regions.
In a seminar themed the Development of PAI Teacher Curriculum in the 21st Century, he took the example of Dangdut singer Rhoma Irama who bears the title of King Dangdut until now and has not been replaced. His song lyrics have the power that can hypnotize the listener.
"It turns out he is a person who diligently pray in the middle of the night, so God bestows him a qulan tsaqila that make his songs liked by many people," he explained.
He pointed out that a professional teacher is not only required to master the learning method and good in the delivery of teaching materials, but behind it all, there is the most powerful method that makes the students can be directed to a pious child.
"Take time to wake up at night and be consistent, that's the most powerful method to become a professional teacher," Mahmud concluded. (usa)
