National Seminar Pestarama 9: Literature and Drama with an Islamic Touch

Jakarta, May 27, 2024 – The ninth annual Literary and Drama Appreciation Week (Pestarama 9) hosted a Guest Lecture and National Seminar, focusing on the theme "The Role of Islamic Cultural Institutions in Shaping the Face of Islamic-Themed Literature and Drama in Indonesia." This event took place on Monday from 08:00 to 12:00 WIB at the Prof. Mahmud Yunus Theater, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

The Guest Lecture and National Seminar were part of the Pestarama 9 series organized by the Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) program at FITK, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Pestarama has been held annually and has now reached its ninth edition.

This year's theme reflects an interest in Islamic-themed literature in Indonesia. The event attracted not only PBSI UIN Jakarta students and faculty but also students from Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang.

Prominent figures in Indonesian literature, especially Islamic literature, were invited as speakers. These included Jamal D Rahman, Rosida Erowati, M.Hum, and Dr. Ngatawi Al Zastrouw, S.Ag., M.Si, who served as the guest lecturer.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Ahmad Bahtiar, M.Hum, Head of the PBSI Program at UIN Jakarta, expressed his appreciation for the event.

"I highly appreciate this event, as it is significant not only for our students studying the history of literature but also for those studying literature in general," said Ahmad Bahtiar.

A similar sentiment was echoed by Prof. Siti Nurul Azkiyah, M.Sc, Ph.D., Dean of FITK, UIN Jakarta.

"Firstly, I want to express my appreciation to the committee for organizing this event so well," said Prof. Nurul.

Prof. Nurul further stated that the event serves as a means to ground Islamic culture and art in a way that can be appreciated.

"Literature can be an effective medium to further ground and preserve Islamic cultures," she added.
