In his remarks, UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, highlighted the importance of women and children in shaping a progressive society. “This Mother’s Day seminar is a great moment to reflect on the indispensable roles of women and mothers. It is also a stepping stone for us to strengthen UIN Jakarta’s dedication to creating an academic environment where everyone, especially women and children, feel safe and supported,” he said.
The Women- and Child-Friendly Campus declaration focuses on three primary pillars aimed at creating a safe and supportive environment for women and children. The first pillar is the establishment of daycare facilities, providing convenience for working mothers and students with young children. The second is the creation of Rahmah Friendly House (R3), a dedicated space for reporting and addressing incidents of violence, ensuring swift and appropriate responses. The third pillar is the Gender Academy (AGEN), an initiative to raise awareness and promote understanding of gender equality and mainstreaming through education and outreach programs.
Chairperson of PSGA, Dr. Hj. Wiwi Siti Sajaroh, M.Ag., underscored the importance of collaboration in realizing these goals. “This declaration is a shared responsibility. It requires the commitment of the entire academic community—leaders, lecturers, staff, and students alike—to build a campus that truly embodies inclusivity and support for women and children,” she stated.
Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifah Fauzi, emphasized the government’s focus on protecting women’s and children’s rights. “Women’s and children’s issues are a national priority. This aligns with our ongoing efforts, supported by legislation such as Law Number 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes, to create a safer and more equitable society,” she explained.
On the same occasion, Head of UIN Jakarta’s Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M), Prof. Amelia Fauziah, reflected on the importance of the event. “Mother’s Day is not just a celebration; it is a reminder of the progress and challenges in the women’s rights movement. Today’s event reinforces UIN Jakarta’s commitment to creating a campus that upholds these values,” she remarked.
