MORA Will Provides 272 PTN Scholarships for Outstanding Santris

Kemenag, UIN News Online – This is an opportunity for outstanding students, opportunities to get a scholarship from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Sub directorate head of Pesantren and Diniyah education, Directorate General of Islamic Education (Pendis), Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA) Basnang Said, said that this year, MORA will open an Outstanding Santri Scholarship Program (PBSB).

He said that his team are continue to make preparations, one of which is by conducting a preparation meeting to formulate the selection format.

“PBSB will be launched on March 28, 2018 at UGM Yogyakarta by the Minister of Religious Affairs of Indonesia Lukman Hakim Saifuddin,” he said.

According to Basnang, UGM Yogyakarta is ready to host the launch of the PBSB program. Additionally, UGM has also been a partner for PBSB since 2006. Currently, UGM is recorded as a campus with the second highest PBSB student after UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta with a total of 519 santris.

He also added that he already asked PBSB students at UGM Yogyakarta to enliven the launching event by wearing santri-style clothes (sarungan). In addition, Launching will also be enlivened by the presence of PBSB students from UIN Yogyakarta and the National Community of Santri Scholars of Ministry of Religious Affairs (CSSMORA).

"We are going to show a different style. We will enliven the launching event with the characteristics of pesantren," he explained.

Furthermore, Basnang also said that MORA will provide PBSB scholarship for 272 selected santris. They will continue their study at PBSB partner universities, among them are IPB Bogor, ITS Surabaya, UIN Makassar, UIN Malang, UIN Surabaya, UIN Bandung, UIN Yogyakarta, UIN Jakarta, UIN Semarang, UNAIR Surabaya, Universitas Cendrawasih Jayapura, UGM Yogyakarta and UPI Bandung.

“We are grateful that the PBSB scholarships quota fir this year has increased from last year's. We will finalize the tuition fees at each university. If the tuition fee can be reduced, we will able to increase the quota,” said Basnang. (usa)
