Monitoring the health of aquatic ecosystems Monitor the health of aquatic ecosystems
1. Environmental testing services & Laboratory testing services
PLT provides environmental laboratory testing services, including water quality analysis. Public information on PLT's testing services and laboratory support for research and other testing needs.
Aquatic ecosystem health is closely related to water quality and the environmental conditions that support aquatic organisms. Laboratory analysis of water samples can provide scientific information to support research and environmental assessment, particularly when the samples, analytical parameters, and research objectives relate to rivers and other aquatic environments.

The Integrated Laboratory Centre (PLT), Faculty of Science and Technology, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, provides laboratory testing services that support research and scientific activities. During 2025, PLT received and tested water samples submitted by research clients, including river water, water for hygiene and sanitation purposes, and wastewater.
This report documents the laboratory's contribution to water quality research in relation to THE Impact Rankings Indicator R0382: Monitoring the Health of Aquatic Ecosystems. It focuses on the number of samples tested and the parameters analyzed while maintaining the confidentiality of research clients.
2. Water Quality Monitoring and BOD Test
Environmental Health students from the Faculty of Social and Environmental Sciences (FIKES) monitored the health of aquatic ecosystems in lakes and ponds around the faculty. Testing using Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) parameters showed BOD values in the range of 1–30 mg/L.

This activity is a form of environmental health science application initiated by Environmental Health students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University. The goal is to identify the condition of water quality in water bodies around the campus, such as lakes and ponds. This monitoring is crucial for maintaining ecosystem health, preventing potential environmental pollution, and aligning campus activities with SDG indicator 14.5.2 regarding monitoring the health of aquatic ecosystems.
