Monica Darmayani Wins Third Place in the Saizu Chess Cup Tournament

Student Center, UIN News Online – Female chess player Monica Darmayani won the Saizu Chess Cup Tournament for students. She won third place in the Catur Cepat Putri category which was competed at the UIN Purwokerto campus on July 12, 2022.

In her written statement submitted to UIN News Online, Friday (07/15/2022), Monica said that she was quite satisfied with this accomplishment.

According to Monica, there are four categories that are competed in the chess tournament, namely the Cepat Putra, Cepat Putri, Kilat Putra, and Kilat Putri category.

With a total of 44 participants from 12 universities, the tournament was held in five rounds.

“Of all the completed rounds, I got three winning points. I failed to get two other points, namely in round 1 and 5. But thank God I had the opportunity to get third place in the tournament,” she said.

In August, it is reported that Monica will return to compete at the 1st National Arts and Sports Week (Pesona) which will be held at the UIN Bandung. She will compete in the Women's Classical Chess category. (ns/usa)
