Minister of Religious Affairs Urges Stronger Collaboration and Synergy Among PTKIN
Ministry of Religious Affairs Building, UIN News Online — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta’s leadership, led by Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., paid a visit to the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Wednesday, (06/11/2024), to meet with Minister Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A. During the meeting, Minister Nasaruddin emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy among Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) to foster better campus development both nationally and internationally.
Minister Nasaruddin stressed that PTKIN, under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, must strengthen cooperation to ensure sustainable progress. "Collaboration among universities is key to advancing global standards in religious education," he said.
He also pointed out the necessity of universities achieving greater self-reliance, explaining that rapid development cannot happen without efforts to diversify funding sources. "Relying solely on government grants will hinder the growth of a campus," he noted.
The Minister emphasized the need for PTKIN to be empowered to develop themselves with national and international cooperation. "UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, for example, is a prestigious institution with great potential for global recognition, but it must be managed well through collaboration and unity," he remarked.
Minister Nasaruddin also shared his concern about the gap between high-quality research and its societal recognition, urging the Rector and leadership to develop strategies that highlight UIN Syarif Hidayatullah’s academic contributions. "We see excellent research being done, but it’s not catching the attention it deserves from society," he added.
Rector Prof. Asep Jahar expressed his sincere gratitude for the guidance and support provided by the Minister. "We are motivated by this advice and will continue to innovate to ensure UIN Jakarta provides an education that is independent, excellent, and impactful for society," he affirmed.
He further underlined that synergy and collaboration are essential for strengthening PTKIN’s position, particularly in maintaining UIN Jakarta's competitive edge both locally and globally. "We are committed to improving human resources and conducting research that serves the public's needs, ensuring that the benefits of our work reach society as a whole," Rector Jahar concluded.
