Matakin Chairperson: UIN Jakarta Has Apply Rahmatan lil 'Aalamiin

Rectorate,   UIN NEWS Online-   Concept  of Islam  Rahmatan lil 'Aalamin  (Religion of peace / mercy for all nature) has been applied in the UIN Jakarta campus environment.

This was conveyed by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Council for Confucian Religion (Matakin) Uung Sendana Lodianto Linggaraja MA to  UIN NEWS Online   while attending 109 UIN Jakarta Graduation Graduation Rehearsal on Wednesday (08/15/2018) in the Rectorate Building.

"As a Confucian, I choose my master's study at UIN Jakarta, because as an Islamic campus, UIN Jakarta accepts Confucian students to study in the Comparative Religion Study Program," said Uung.

This opportunity, he added, was not found in other Islamic universities and had a positive influence on the conditions and situation of religious diversity in Indonesia.

According to Uung, despite being different from the others, studying at UIN Jakarta seemed like being at home. Here he found Islam fitting the rahmatan lil áalamin concept.

"There is no religious barrier between students and lecturers. We respect and help each other, the lecturers are knowledgeable and good-hearted, " he added.

In the midst of his busy schedule, Uung was able to complete his master's studies on time at the Ushuludin Faculty of Religion Study Program, even he was chosen as the best faculty master's graduate with GPA 3.76.

He took the thesis title " Tian dan Sheng dalam Penafsiran Rohaniwan dan Cendikiawan Matakin Serta Pengamat Budaya Tionghoa di Indonesia" with the supervisors and examiners Prof. Dr. Ikhsan Tanggok MA, Dr Media Zainul Bahri MA, and Prof. Ridwan Lubis.

Aside from being Chairperson of Matakin, an institution that is equivalent to the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Uung is also active in several other organizations, such as the Interreligious Council of Indonesia (IRC Indonesia), Members of the Advanced Indonesian Movement Council (PIM), Members of the Union's Honorary Council DKI Jakarta Advocate (PERADI), and Vice President of the World Confucian Religion Organization.

As an alumni, he advised that UIN Jakarta maintain what was good, improve what was lacking, and continue to improve the integration of the administrative system to facilitate students.

"Thank you UIN Jakarta, Please continue to become the windows of academic excellence of Indonesian Islam to the world," he concluded. (usa)
