Marvelous! UIN Jakarta Secures the First Place among the Best Indonesian State University Category by QS Asia 2026
Rectorate Building, UIN Online News — The global higher education ranking agency, Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR), has placed Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta at the top position among 25 of the best Indonesian State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKINs).
The achievement also makes UIN Jakarta the only university under the auspices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to enter the list of Indonesia’s top universities. The university’s inclusion in the QS Asia Rankings reflects its strong commitment to enhancing academic reputation, research productivity, and internationalization—three core indicators assessed by the British higher-education analyst service.
This accomplishment further reinforces UIN Jakarta’s standing as a globally competitive Islamic higher education institution, where UIN Jakarta remains the only PTKIN to be listed in the global subject ranking for theology and religious studies.
Since March, UIN Jakarta has also recorded a significant achievement in the QS WUR by Subject 2025 for Theology, Divinity, and Religious Studies, securing a global ranking in the 101–150 band. This result continues the institution’s performance in 2024, when UIN Jakarta ranked in the 101–140 band in the same subject area.
One of the foremost aspects behind UIN Jakarta’s success is its strong citation performance. International scholars widely reference the university's research publications, as evidenced by its citation score of 92. The QS Task Force Team of UIN Jakarta backed this report with strong potential to be explored in subject rankings in additional fields: Education, Sociology, and Communication Studies; Research Collaborations; and Publication Productivity.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science & Technology of the Republic of Indonesia also acknowledges this achievement. UIN Jakarta is awarded for its dedication within the Top 500 QS WUR by Subject.
"This recognition demonstrates the multifaceted nature of an Islamic university. Should UIN Jakarta seize the global stage of Islamic studies, our institution is highly capable of competing with other international universities,” the Rector of UIN Jakarta stated.
