March, UIN Jakarta ASN Salaries will be subject to professional zakah

Rectorate, UIN News Online – Starting from March 2022, all state civil servants (ASN) of UIN Jakarta will be subject to a professional zakah deduction of 2.5 percent. Zakah will be imposed from the monthly salary received and collected through the Zakah Management Unit (UPZ) UIN Jakarta.

According to Rectors’s Decree Number 05 of 2022, on Wednesday, (02/09/2022), stated that the policy of cutting professional zakah directly aims to facilitate the payment of zakah for every Muslim civil servant and candidate for civil servant.

The salary deduction for professional zakat of 2.5 percent for ASN UIN Jakarta, according to the circullar letter, will be carried out according to the relevant approval. The method is that ASN is asked to fill out a form regarding a statement of willingness to pay professional zakah.

If the zakat payer agrees and is willing to pay professional zakah, UIN Jakarta will then order the money depositing institution, in this case BNI, to transfer 2.5 percent of the money by autodebit from the salary every month.

“Zakat can be deducted from gross taxable income in accordance with Government Regulation Number 60 of 2010 concerning Zakah or Religious Contributions of a Mandatory Nature that can be deducted from Gross Income,” said the letter.

The management of professional zakah will be used for social and educational purposes, such as providing scholarships for UIN Jakarta students. (ns/usa)
