Madrasah Pembangunan Marks 52 Years with Renewed Vision for Inclusive and Sustainable Education
Tangsel, UIN News Online — Madrasah Pembangunan (MP) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta celebrated its 52nd anniversary by reaffirming its commitment to advancing inclusive, high-quality, and sustainable Islamic education, while marking a new chapter in its institutional development through integration into UIN Jakarta's Public Service Agency (BLU) governance framework.
The anniversary celebration, held on Wednesday (7 January), brought together university leaders, educators, staff, students, alumni, and members of the school community to reflect on more than five decades of educational excellence and future development.
According to Teguh Sarwono, Director of Business and Schools at UIN Jakarta, the integration represents far more than an administrative transition.
"Madrasah Pembangunan has long served as a model for integrated Islamic education. Its incorporation into UIN Jakarta's governance framework reflects our broader vision of building an educational institution that is academically excellent, inclusive, and sustainable while remaining firmly rooted in Islamic values," he said.
He added that inclusive education should ensure equitable access to learning opportunities and support every student's potential without discrimination. UIN Jakarta therefore remains committed to strengthening an adaptive curriculum that responds to advances in science and technology while preserving Islamic and humanitarian values.
Representing the University's leadership, Prof. Imam Subchi, Vice Rector for Administration, Finance, and Institutional Development, described the school's 52-year journey as a testament to generations of educators who have successfully combined academic excellence with character formation.
"Madrasah Pembangunan's distinctive strength lies in its integration of national, international, and globally oriented curricula with a strong foundation in Islamic education. This approach has produced graduates who contribute across a wide range of professions, including academia, education, and public service," he said.
Prof. Imam also emphasized that educational quality depends not only on curriculum development but also on investment in teachers and learning environments. UIN Jakarta, he noted, will continue improving staff welfare while upgrading classrooms, sanitation facilities, and other educational infrastructure to create healthier, more inclusive learning spaces.
Looking ahead, Madrasah Pembangunan will continue strengthening its curriculum through the values of akhlaq al-karimah (noble character) and Indonesia's rich Islamic traditions while expanding students' global outlook through science, technology, and innovation. Maintaining educational excellence while embracing continuous innovation remains central to the school's long-term vision.
The anniversary celebration featured cultural performances by students, exhibitions highlighting the school's history and achievements, and recognition for teachers and staff whose dedication has contributed significantly to the institution's development. Several educators were also honored for their outstanding service and professional excellence, underscoring the school's appreciation for those who have shaped its educational legacy over the past five decades.
