LPM and SPI empowerment is the key to improve the quality of higher education

Syahida Inn, UIN News Online – Director of Islamic Higher Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Suyitno, state that there are two institutes which are the keys in developing the quality of higher education. The institutes are Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) and the Internal Audit Unit (SPI).

This was said by Suyitno in his speech during the opening of UIN Jakarta’s leadership meeting entitled  “Optimalisasi Sumber Daya UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta dalam Upaya Akselerasi Menuju PTN Badan Hukum”, on Wednesday (03/10/2021), held at Syahida Inn, campus II of UIN Jakarta.

Suyitno explained, LPM has a duty to oversee the quality of a study program, including on accreditation. The existence of LPM is considered very important because the quality and accreditation of study programs can determine the success or failure of the higher education internationalization program.

“Accreditation for a university is a must,” he said.

Therefore, Directorate Genereal of Islamic Higher Education (Dirjen Pendis) currently formulating which Islamic religious colleges (PTKIN) still have the inadequate study program accreditation.

The next key element is the Internal Audit Unit (SPI). According to Suyitno, SPI must be more empowered in overseeing the implementation of good financial administration governance, starting from planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

“These two institutions must be fully empowered in order to oversee the quality of study program accreditation and higher education financial management,” he concluded. (usa/ns)
