This event presented two main speakers who are experts in the field of archives.
The Directorate of Central Archives, Azwar Sanusi Pane, SIP, M.SI, opened the session by emphasizing the important role of universities in building the nation's civilization through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. “The implementation of higher education functions produces archives as recorded information which is an asset of higher education and at the same time a public asset that needs to be managed properly,” said Azwar.
In addition, Azwar also explained the legal basis for organizing archives in higher education, including Law No. 43/2009 on Archives and ANRI Regulation No. 24/2011. He explained the scope of organizing higher education archives, which includes policies, archival guidance, archive management, and resources.
The next session was filled by Junior Expert Archivist of the General Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Heri Wiharso. Wiharso emphasized the importance of handling the archive life cycle well. “If the life cycle of archives is handled well, surely the organization of archives will be better and tidier,” said Wiharso.
Wiharso explained the archive life cycle, which includes creation, use, depreciation, and maintenance. He also highlighted the main archival problems that often arise in offices, such as lost archives, accumulation of archives without depreciation, and lack of training for archive employees.
This socialization event is a strategic step for UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in increasing awareness and ability of archive management in higher education. With a better understanding of archival management, it is expected to improve the efficiency and accountability of institutional performance in supporting the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
