Learn More about Faculty of Medicine at UIN Jakarta, Prospective New Students Have to Know!

UIN Jakarta, Berita UIN Online -

The formation of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at UIN Jakarta in 2004 was the starting point for the application of the field of health sciences since the transition from IAIN to UIN in 2001. Several years after the formation of FKIK, precisely in 2018, there was a separation of the faculty into the Faculty of Medicine (FK) and the Faculty of Medicine. Health Sciences (FIKES) which has been planned since 2015 based on Law Number 20 of 2013 concerning Medical Education article 6.

Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Student Affairs, drg. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin, Ph.D., in delivering faculty outreach material to a number of SMA/MA students in the UIN Jakarta Diorama Room on Wednesday (7/2/2024) said that during its 20 years of existence, FK UIN Jakarta has graduated almost 1000 alumni who spread to various regions in Indonesia. Graduates not only work in hospitals, some work in government agencies as health experts, hospital directors, health law experts, etc.

He said that FK UIN Jakarta has a plus point in the field of education because it is aligned with Islamic science so that students can integrate medical science with Islamic science. This has an influence on FK UIN Jakarta alumni who now work in many Hajj hospitals.

FK UIN Jakarta is the first FK to be established under the auspices of the Ministry of Religion. With
A accreditation issued by the Indonesian Association of Independent Accreditation Institutions for Higher Health Education in 2021, making the Medicine Study Program the study program with the most interest at UIN Jakarta. This year, FK UIN Jakarta will also open two specialist courses, namely lungs and ob-gyn or gynecology.

In 2020, FK UIN Jakarta will have an integrated laboratory to provide molecular examinations for Covid-19 and will become one of the reference laboratories for molecular examinations and whole genome sequencing, not only for Covid-19 disease but also for other diseases.

The superior programs offered by FK UIN Jakarta include modules on medical and Islamic studies, Hajj medicine, research on genetic disorders, Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), and Student Oral Case Analysis (SOCA). The scholarships provided by FK UIN Jakarta are quite diverse, including KIP scholarships for students who have KIP cards, and students who are in the UKT group 1-3, affirmation scholarships provided by the Ministry of Health, as well as scholarships for outstanding students from the Ministry of Religion, via the LOA route. (letter of acceptance) and regular route.

In the learning process, the curriculum system that applies at FK is quite different
compared to other faculties at UIN Jakarta. FK applies a learning method using different modules every few weeks.

“At UIN medicine, learning is based on a module system, so it is different from other majors. For approximately four weeks the students studied one module and were divided into several groups. "Each group will be guided by one facilitator," explained Drg. Latifa.

In the same forum, drg. Latifa also reminded that the journey for students to become general practitioners or specialists is not easy, many things are sacrificed in the process, such as time, energy and money. Therefore, only students who are determined and serious will be able to survive until the final stage.

"The journey for students to become doctors is not fast, it takes 10-12 years to become a specialist doctor. The stages of medical education are four years, co-assist period is two years, internship period is one year, and if you want to continue as a specialist, the time is three to four years. "So you have to really think about it if you want to enter FK, you can't take the struggle lightly," he added.

FK UIN Jakarta's relations include major health facilities in Indonesia, such as the Hajj Hospital in various regions, Fatmawati Hospital, Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital, and several other hospitals. FK UIN Jakarta also collaborates internationally with several overseas campuses, such as Yamaguchi University (Japan), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), and Tohoku University (Japan) (Nadia Nur Fadilah/Novia Syifaputri Ramadhan).
