Leadership and Academic Community of UIN Jakarta Commemorate Pancasila Day

Student Center Building, UIN News Online - The leadership and academic community of UIN Jakarta commemorated Pancasila Day by holding a flag ceremony attended by university leaders and the academic community on Saturday (1/6/2024). The ceremony, held in the main campus field, was led by Vice-Rector for General Administration, Prof. Dr. Imam Subchi, M.A., who served as the ceremony inspector.

As the ceremony inspector, Prof. Imam read the Pancasila Day speech written by the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), Prof. Drs. K.H. Yudian Wahyudi, M.A., Ph.D. This year's Pancasila Day theme, "Pancasila, the Unifying Spirit of the Nation Towards Golden Indonesia 2045," underscores Pancasila’s role in uniting all elements of the nation with its diversity, as Indonesia approaches its centennial.

In his address, Prof. Imam Subchi highlighted the importance of Pancasila Day as a moment for all Indonesians to reflect and continuously practice Pancasila’s values in daily life. He reminded everyone that the commemoration of Pancasila Day traces back to Bung Karno’s speech on June 1, 1945, introducing Pancasila at the BPUPK session.

He emphasized that Pancasila is a divine blessing and should be the guiding principle of the Indonesian nation. The values of inclusivity, tolerance, and mutual cooperation inherent in Pancasila must be instilled in every aspect of life.

"In this very historic moment, I call on all components of the nation to work together to embed the values of Pancasila in every aspect of community, national, and state life. Pancasila has proven capable of uniting us in facing various challenges and historical trials, allowing Indonesia to stand strong as a great nation," he said.

The speech also addressed the global challenges faced by Indonesia, especially in the era of advanced information technology. Pancasila is expected to act as a filter to prevent disorientation in the future, and technology should be used wisely to disseminate positive content reflecting Pancasila’s values.

"The rapid advancement of information technology, marked by the extensive use of smartphones to access information through various media, must be utilized wisely to broadcast positive content and narratives that reflect the actualization of Pancasila values in community, national, and state life," he added.

The ceremony was solemn and included the raising of the Indonesian flag by the UIN Jakarta Student Regiment flag team, the reading of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution by Dr. Siti Ummi Masruroh (Head of Research Center), the reading of the Pancasila text by M. Ishar Helmi, M.H. (Head of Legal Center), and concluded with a communal prayer led by the caretaker of Ma'had UIN Jakarta, Dr. K.H. Moh. Suryadinata.

In his prayer, Kyai Suryadinata urged the entire UIN Syarif Hidayatullah academic community to maintain national harmony and unity as a manifestation of Pancasila’s values.
