Ma'ruf Amin said that the world is currently facing two poles of thought in understanding religious teachings, namely conservatism and secularism. Therefore, various efforts to oversee religious moderation are considered very important in order to maintain the unity and integrity of the Ummah and the unity of the nation.

Amin also added that UIN Jakarta has a long experience as an Islamic higher education institution. Even UIN Jakarta also has competent human resources. Therefore, Amin believes that UIN Jakarta will make a major contribution in guarding the harmonious life of Indonesia.

Amin also appreciated UIN Jakarta which gave birth to many prominent Islamic thinkers and figures. Among them are Harun Nasution, Nurcholish Madjid, and Quraish Shihab.

“Apart from Indonesia, their role is also recognized by various countries in the world,” he added.

Therefore, it is not surprising that UIN Jakarta has been listed as one of the centers for the development of Islamic thought.
