Kemenag RI Will Organize the Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) 2017
Jakarta, UIN News Online – The Ministry of Religious Affairs RI (Kemenag RI) will organize the Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) 2017 raising the theme on “Religion, Identity and Citizenship Horizons of Islam in Indonesia and Beyond”. This event is a series of International Islamic Education Expo (IIEE) which will be held at ICE BSD Serpong, South Tangerang, Monday-Friday, (11/20-24/2017).
Based on release obtained by UIN News Online, (11/16/2017), this event will explore several sub-themes, among them are Integration of Islam and science, Religion, environment and biodiversity, Sufism, spirituality and mental health, Transnational Islam and the threat of radicalism, Ethno-religious violence and conflict resolution, Sharia,identity politics and citizenship, Knowledge production, education and media, Religion and popular culture, Philosopy, sacred texts and practices of truth.
This conference is interdisciplinary, all sub-themes may be explored from various Disciplines, including theology, philosophy, history, Qur’an and Hadith sciences, sociology, anthropology, education, philology, Islamic law, psychology, pure and applied sciences, etc.
This conference will present two keynote speakers, namely Lukman Hakim Saifuddin (Minister of Religios Affairs, RI) and Prof Asef Bayat (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA).
Additionally, AICIS 2017 will present a number of resource persons, namely Prof. Farid Alatas, Ph.D (National University of Singapore), Prof. Nico J Kaptein (Leiden University), Prof. Imtiyas Yusuf (Mahidol University, Tailand), Prof. Lisolette Abid (Vienna University), prof. Livia Holden (Oxford University), Prof. Saif Rashid al-Jabiri (University Canada Dubai), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Omar Chapakia (Pattani University of Thailand), Dr. Nargiza F Amiroza (Nagoya University Japan), Dr. Ahmed al-Senouni (Emirati Development Program, and Muwatta Center Abu Dhabi).
