Kemenag Encourage the Internationalization of UIN Jakarta

Bandung, UIN News Online – The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) RI encourage the internationalization of UIN Jakarta through the strengthening of research, curriculum, and student affairs. UIN Jakarta should appear as an icon of Islamic higher education institution from a Muslim-majority country. This was conveyed by the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Rreligious Affairs Prof Dr Phil Kamaruddin Amin MA during his presentation in UIN Jakarta Board of Leaders Meeting (Rakerpim) 2018, Monday, (1/22/2018) at el Royale Hotel, Bandung, West Java. Kamaruddin said that as the largest Muslim country, Indonesia should have Islamic higher education institutions that can be used as a reference. "UIN Jakarta should represent itself as the best state Islamic  higher instituion,” he said. Internationalization, he continued, can be done by increasing the number of research publications and various academic works. In addition to indexed journal publications, UIN Jakarta lecturers should have started thinking about creating an academic work that can be utilized by the world community. “Lecturer of UIN Jakarta should think about creating the monumental and serious academic works that can be used as a reference for the world community,” he said. Furthermore, UIN Jakarta also needs to internationalize the curriculum. This is done by adopting curriculum and scientific learning material used by the best universities in accordance with its respective fields of science. UIN Jakarta also advised to increase the number of foreign professors who teach and conducting a research in UIN Jakarta. “UIN Jakarta can synergize with the Ministry of Religious Affairs which facilitates visiting professor from various leading global universities since the last few years,” he added. Moreover,  the Ministry of Religious Affairs is ready to allocate a quota of 100 foreign students from a total of 2000 foreign students to study at UIN Jakarta. Kamaruddin also expressed his appreciation for the achievement of UIN Jakarta performance both from institutional development, university rank, and publications. “Please maintain this achievements, the Ministry of Religious Affairs also take pride in the achievements that have been obtained by UIN Jakarta,” he said.
