"Keep a Positive Mindset and be Optimistic," Says The Rector of UIN Jakarta During The 135th Graduation Ceremony
Auditorium Harun Nasution, UIN Online News - During the 135th Graduation Ceremony at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Saturday (22/2/2025), Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, advised all of the graduates towards the significance of optimism, a positive mentality, and communication skills as essential tools for navigating the post-campus world.
During address, he stated that positivity is a crucial aspect of attaining success, and he encouraged them to consistently cultivate positivity inside themselves. It is known that an individual's success is influenced not just by their chosen college major, but mostly by their capacity for self-understanding and self-appreciation.
"We must recognize that we are dignified and esteemed beings. God fashioned mankind with profound grandeur characterized by the distinctiveness inherent in each person, hence we must make ourselves way more better than each day," he said.
Moreover, he emphasized the need to cultivate a positive mentality since it significantly impacts one's future. A constructive mentality must also be complemented with optimism, enthusiasm, and prayer to realize one's ambitions.
"If you say 'I can't' from the very beginning, you just started your own failure. Consequently, it is essential to continue progressing, thriving, and aspiring with unwavering excitement and confidence. No achievement is achieved instantaneously and all matters must undergo a systematic procedure. Through persistent effort and accompanied by prayer, all objectives can be achieved," he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for communication and networking as essential components for attaining success. The capacity to communicate and network may provide possibilities and enhance views. Both characteristics pertain to personality. He also urged the graduates to consistently maintain their personality with the virtuous character shown in four primary elements: think, feel, utter, and then act.
In conclusion, he encouraged the graduates: "You must affirm yourselves that you will be succesful in the end. As believers, we must faithfully accept the fact that anything we speak will be granted,".
This graduation ceremony signifies the beginning of a new step for UIN Jakarta alumni as they confront a world full of challenges. With knowledge, hope, and strong character, they are anticipated to contribute positively to Indonesia and its people.
