Kazan National Research Technological University Ready to Become UIN Jakarta's Strategic Partner
Rectorate Building, UIN News Online- Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRTU) is ready to become a strategic partner of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in accelerating academic programmes. Various academic partnership programmes are ready to be realised by both universities.
This is the report of UIN Jakarta's cooperation visit team to Russia received today, Wednesday (4/9/2024). The visit team led by Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar M.A. Ph.D. with members of the Rector's Special Staff, Prof. Kusmana, and Head of International Cooperation Service Centre, Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem visited KNRTU on the third day of the visit to Russia.
UIN Jakarta's team visit to KNRTU was warmly welcomed by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of KNRTU Prof. Dilbar Sh. Sultanova and Director of International Relations Dr Anna S. Sukhristina. ‘Welcome to our campus. It is an honour to receive UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's academic partnership visit,’ said Professor Dilbar.
In his presentation, Professor Dilbar revealed that KNRTU is one of the universities in Kazan. Referring to the available profile, the university established since 1890 continues to grow and is now one of the leading universities in Kazan, ranked third among 44 universities in Kazan.
The university is also in the QS Ranking 1001-1200 with its main strengths in chemical engineering and the petrochemical industry. KNRTU is noted to be in close contact with industry, particularly engineering companies. On a regular basis, the university also holds meetings to ensure that education at the university matches the needs of the industry.
The closeness of the university and industry itself, said Prof Dilbar Sh. Sultanova, is based on the importance of the relevance of education to the world of work. ‘Education is not just about books, but must be connected to industry and real life,’ she explained.
Through this approach, continued Prof Dilbar, KNRTU ensures that its graduates are ready to meet the needs of a dynamic industry. One concrete example of this collaboration is KNRTU's dual degree programme with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), where students can study two years at KNRTU and two years at BUCT, earning two diplomas.
Furthermore, at this meeting, the leaders of each university discussed various opportunities for strategic collaboration between the two. Some of the topics discussed included curriculum development for technical pedagogy, foreign languages for professional communication, joint research, publications, and the introduction of KNRTU programmes to UIN Jakarta students and alumni so that they can continue their master's or doctoral studies at KNRTU.
Responding to this meeting, Rector Asep Jahar assessed the importance of the realisation of cooperation between UIN Jakarta and KNRTU. According to him, KNRTU can be a reference for UIN Jakarta in building close relationships between educational institutions and the industrial world.
Meanwhile, Prof Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem and Dr Anna S. Sukhristina agreed to follow up on the agreement to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions. This is especially in academic areas such as joint curriculum development and dual degree programmes.
KNRTU itself is noted to have several excellent programmes. Among them, the Institute of Polymers; Institute of Innovation Management (with eight departments; Institute of Petroleum, Chemistry, and Nanotechnology; Institute of Automated Control Systems and Information Technologies; and, Institute of Light and Fashion Design.
‘Hopefully, this visit can pave the way for stronger collaboration between UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and KNRTU, especially in the fields of engineering, chemistry, and innovation, and provide new opportunities for students and lecturers to deepen their knowledge and international experience,’ Maila concluded.
