Japanese Academicians Offer Research Cooperation on Halal Products

Rectorate, UIN News Online – Japanese muslim academicians offer research cooperation on halal products during their visits to UIN Jakarta, Wednesday, (3/1). The offering was made due to global consumer trends towards Halal products.

The offering was delivered by two academicians from Tokushoku University, Director Syariah Research Institute Prof. Nobuo Mori and Chairman Science Commitee Shariah Research Institute Eg. Abdurrahman Aiji Muto.

Their visits were welcomed by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA, the Head of LP2M Prof Dr Arskal Salim GP MA, the Head of PLKI Rachmat Baihaky MA and the Head of Halal Center of UIN Jakarta Dr. Muhammad Yanis Musdja.

In his presentation, Mori offers the cooperation on Halal products research which is in line with the global consumer trends towards Halal products. “Most of the consumers are Muslim, and they are very concerned about it,” said Mori.

Mori believes, UIN Jakarta have the facilities and lecturers who have the ability in researching and developing such products. “Therefore, we hope to cooperate with UIN Jakarta,” he said.

In response, rector asked LP2M, PLKI and Halal Center to follow up the offer. Rector also offers the academicians to participate in research fellowship and visiting professor programs.

“These programs will allow the academicians to teach and conducting research in UIN Jakarta,” said Dede.

Separately, Yanis added that halal market has a high enough demand. He suspects the demand has emerged for the high awareness among consumers on halal product guarantees.

“As a higher education institution that has the research task, this cooperation will allow us to meet the demand,” he said. (usa)
